The 1958 Football Team was undefeated and untied with an 8-0 record. It was the first undefeated Sewanee football team since the legendary 1899 team. Coach Shirley Majors led the Tigers to a 285-28 scoring margin over their opponents for the year. The '58 squad capped off the perfect season with a 47-0 route of Southwestern (now Rhodes) in the Orgill Cup game.
