Well-known in the rowing world as “Dr. Rowing,” Andy Anderson is an accomplished rowing coach, educator, and former collegiate coxswain.
Raised in an internationally mobile family, Andy spent formative years in the Dominican Republic, where he developed a love for baseball before discovering rowing at Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts.
He attended Trinity College, drawn by its rowing program, and became varsity coxswain, competing at elite events including the Dad Vail Regatta and the Henley Royal Regatta.
After graduation, Andy returned to Trinity as a coach—guiding both men’s and women’s teams, and playing a pivotal role in establishing the women’s varsity program.
His career later took him to Groton School, where he has taught English and Spanish, coached crew, and served as Associate Head of School and Director of Financial Aid.
Renowned for his leadership and lifelong dedication to the sport of rowing, Andy credits his experiences at Trinity and in team sports for shaping his values, friendships, and professional path.
