Chris Hickey will long be remembered as the most accomplished running back in Bates College history. At 5'11", 215 lbs., Chris ran with power and grace from 1984 to 1987 and along the way broke fourteen school rushing records. In his senior year he finished second in the nation for both rushing and scoring in the 1987 NCAA Division III standings. He won honorable mention on the Little All-American team, was on the All-New England (all divisions) first team, was chosen ECAC Division III New England Player of the Year. The New England Football Writers Association presented him the annual Gold Helmet Award.

Twice a New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Star as well as an ECAC Division III New England All-Star, Chris was named Offensive Player of the Year in the New England Small College Athletic Conference and the MVP on offense of the Bates team.
