Originally from Glendive, MT, Jay Schell excelled in cross country and track & field at Dickinson State from 1982-1986. Schell was named to the All-Conference cross country team all four years he ran, he also was a 2 time All-District team member and qualified for nationals once. Schell saw much success on the track as well as a long-distance runner winning multiple conference titles. Schell was a conference champion in the indoor 3,000 m race, as well as a two-time conference champion in the outdoor 5,000 meter race. Schell became a district champion in the 5,000 meter race and qualified for nationals twice in his career. After his athletic success at Dickinson State, Jay went on to pursue a 30 year career as a sales representative for Nike.
