In March 2024, the UNA Board of Trustees authorized an early construction package to build a multi-purpose turf practice field at Cox Creek Park – the UNA Spring Sports Complex at Cox Creek.

Construction on the multipurpose turf field at Cox Creek began in April 2024 and was officially opened on August 11, 2024. The UNA football team was the first to use the facility for a fall camp football practice. 

The field is able to host to multiple events, including UNA football and soccer practices, soccer matches, intramural events, band rehearsals, cross country/track training sessions, and other community events during the 2024-25 academic year and beyond.

Currently, the UNA soccer, football and cross country programs are the primary tenants of this facility. Football and soccer will relocate to Bank Independent Stadium in 2026, while the cross country program will remain at this facility. 

On October 13, 2024, the UNA soccer team hosted the first sporting event on the new surface. The Lions also hosted senior day at the Cox Creek Spring Sports Complex two weeks later, as the Lions hosted a combined 382 fans over those two games.

In April 2025, a new state-of-the-art four-lane track was installed surrounding the facility.

Also in April 2025, the UNA football team hosted its annual spring game and opened gates to the public. Fans filled the near sideline from endzone to endzone both in bleachers and with lawn chairs.

The Marching Pride is expected to take over the facility as the primary tenant in 2026-27, providing the band with a dedicated practice facility that mirrors premier Division I programs.
