As a sophomore in 1999, was chosen BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year.Schmidt capped his highly-successful collegiate career by winning the Nathaniel J. Hasenfus "Eagle of the Year" Award as the outstanding male student-athlete in his graduating class.After graduation, he played professional soccer for the Colorado Rapids (Major League Soccer).Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2012.
