John Lee (PCC, Outstanding Service) - Portland Community College instructor and Coach, John Lee, has a history and legacy unmatched in PCC Athletics. The long-time educator had stints as both the head men's and head women's basketball coach during his significant service to PCC athletics and the greater Portland community. Lee coached the men's basketball team from 1973-1991 and coached the women's team from 2007-2012. Coach Lee's teams were known for their focus and unselfish, team-first style of play. Student-athletes who competed under Lee knew they would learn valuable life lessons under his leadership. Originally from Hartford, Connecticut, Lee came west to attend Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon where he was a standout three-sport athlete competing in football, basketball, and baseball. Lee was drafted by the New York Yankees after his junior season at Linfield. Coach Lee was inducted into the Portland Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. In addition, Lee was inducted into the Linfield College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999 and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. Portland Community College has established The Coach John Lee Athletic Scholarship in his honor, which is awarded annually to a deserving PCC student-athlete.
