2000 Mt. Hood Baseball Team - Led by NWAC Hall of Fame Head Baseball Coach Gabe Sandy, the Mt. Hood Community College Saints (Southern Region Co-Champions) traveled to Lane Community College (Southern Region Co-Champions) and won a one-game playoff to enter the tournament as the #1 seed from the south. A week later, the Saints defeated the Lower Columbia College Red Devils to win the 2000 NWAC Baseball Championship. The Saints and Red Devils played three times in the tournament splitting the first two and the Saints winning the championship game.  Nine players from this team made 1st and 2nd team All Southern Region, four members made the All-NWAC teams, and NWAC MVP was Mike Davies. During spring break the Saints traveled to Arizona and defeated the then #1 team in the country Central Arizona Junior College. Four players went on to sign and play professional baseball and eight players went on to play baseball at the four-year level. Six of the eight played Division I baseball.
