Joe Foley is one of the winningest coaches in the history of college basketball and holds the record for most wins all-time as the head coach of the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns women’s basketball team (456-81). In his 16 years at the helm of the Golden Suns (1987- 2003), he led his group to two National Championships in 1992 and 1993, while also taking his teams to the Women’s Division II Final Four six times (1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1997, 1999). Foley was named the AIC Coach of the Year seven times (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995) and won the NAIA District/Region Coach of the Year award six times (1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1997) during his 16 year run with the Golden Suns. Add two NCAA South Regional Championships and two National Coach of the Year awards in 1992 and 1993 to the impressive resume of the longtime Golden Suns coach. During the 1990’s Foley’s teams boasted a 285 and 53 overall record. He also produced a 20 win or more season fourteen times. Foley finished his time at Arkansas Tech with an impressive .849 overall winning percentage and an .885 winning percentage in conference play, both of which are the best by any head coach of the Golden Suns basketball team. Foley was inducted into the Arkansas Tech Hall of Distinction in 2001 and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. He is currently the head coach of the women’s basketball team at the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
