Throughout Ken Swilling's high school career, he participated in four varsity sports. These sports were football, baseball, basketball, and track. During his senior year, he led the Indians to the State Semi-Finals against Villa Rica. He earned first-team AJC All-State honors as a defensive back and All-State as a running back. He was also named to the AJC Super 11. Ken was also selected as a Parade Magazine High School All-American for football. Not only did he excel in athletics, but also served as Senior Class Vice President. After graduation, he attended Georgia Tech on a full athletic scholarship. Ken played for Georgia Tech from 1988 – 1991 as a defensive back. He achieved First team All-ACC in 1989 & 1990. He was a Consensus All-American in 1990. He helped to lead the team to the 1990 National Championship. Ken was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1992, then spent time with the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and the Cleveland Browns. In 2000, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame. He was later selected as the Yellow Jackets’ 2012 ACC Legend. Ken was also inducted into the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame in 2023. He now resides in Atlanta, Georgia and is the proud father of 3 children: Isaac Swilling, Joshua Swilling, and Shalunda Gordon.
