Omar Hernandez stands as a towering figure in Dalton High School soccer history, holding the record for most career assists with 74 and is second in the number of career goals with 78 from 2016 to 2019. His exceptional talent is further underscored by his remarkable single-season achievement of 32 goals in 2017.
As captain of the 2019 team, Omar led Dalton to an extraordinary 23-0 season, culminating in the GHSA 6A State Championship and earning the prestigious title of #1 National High School Team by USA Today. His prowess on the field earned him the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year honors in both 2018 and 2019, and in 2019, he was recognized as the National Gatorade Player of the Year.
Omar continued his illustrious career at Wake Forest University, where he showcased his skills over four impactful years. His accolades include:

Throughout his college career, Omar's contributions were vital to his team's success. In his senior year (2022), he appeared in 14 matches, recording four points with two assists and a goal, including a game-winning free kick against Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
In 2021, he started all 18 matches, logging over 1,100 minutes and earning Third-Team All-ACC honors, while in 2020, he finished as the second-highest scorer on the team, netting six goals and two assists. His freshman year laid a solid foundation, as he contributed to the team in all 23 matches, with four assists.
Omar's journey began at Dalton High School, where he not only earned recognition as the Gatorade National Player of the Year but also shattered school records with an astounding 84 goals and 64 assists over his four years. A standout in club soccer, he played for Chattanooga FC Academy and had a stint with Atlanta United FC in 2018.
Choosing Wake Forest over numerous competitive programs, including South Carolina and UCF, Omar Hernandez’s legacy is a testament to his unparalleled skill, leadership, and dedication to the sport.
