Sam Cook is still known for his performance on the field and how he conducted himself off the field. During his time at Country Day, Sam lettered in four sports: football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball. During his high school career, he was a football team captain, an All-Mecklenburg running back, an All-Mecklenburg basketball player, and the Male Athlete of the Year during his senior year. He held the record for the most points scored in a football game for 33 years here at Country Day.

Sam Cook’s accomplishments and humor made him popular amongst his peers. And much like his father, John Cook, Sam is remembered beyond his athletic achievements. Sam’s character, leadership, and humility are how his classmates, teammates, and friends remember him. Sam would go on to play football at UNC-Chapel Hill, and later come back to coach football at Charlotte Country Day, where it all began.
