Dr. Basil Boyd was Country Day’s first team physician, making our school one of the first high schools in the area to incorporate sports medicine into its Athletics program. More than just a pioneer, Dr. Boyd is credited with advancing the idea of sports medicine in the greater Charlotte region. In addition to his role at Country Day, Dr. Boyd also served as the team physician for Davidson College for 25 years and organized the effort to provide physician coverage at all Charlotte Mecklenburg School football games. 

Dr. Boyd’s wife, Betty, served on the Board of Trustees from 1976-79.
