Vic Josephs ’63 joined the Country Day family in 1957 as a 7th grader. Vic was on the Varsity Wrestling team in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. On the Varsity Football team, Vic was co-captain and played defensive and tackle. Known as the “First Disciple of CCDS Football,” Vic brought tremendous energy and intensity to the team. Years after Vic graduated in 1963, Coach John Cook continuously told his young players: “You play the way Vic Josephs did and we can win this game.”
Vic played football at LaFayete College where he graduated with a B.S. in Engineering in 1967. He also earned degrees from the University of South Carolina with an M.A. in Geography in 1970 and the University of Georgia with a PhD in Geography in 1980.
Vic remains an avid Buc as he still attends Football games, Alumni Weekend, and Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day with his grandchildren.
