Throughout the 1970s, the Miller backyard was the place to be before home games. John and Doris created a sense of spirit and camaraderie by regularly hosting barbecues for the team, team parents, cheerleaders, and school staff. The memories generated during those gatherings left a lasting impression on the student-athletes who played during that era.

Beyond their athletics support and involvement, they remained steadfast in sharing both time and resources with the school. Doris and John were charter members of the Honorary Alumni Association and The Oak Society. John was a Board of Visitor, chairman of the Grandparents Division of the 1995-96 Annual Fund, and served on the Property and Grounds Committee in 2002-03.

Through their continued generosity to the school, they have named the Boys’ Locker Room.
