Phillip Rogers, class of 1995
Phillip Rogers was a standout three-sport athlete at St. Pius, earning letters in football, track, and baseball. Over three seasons, Phillip became one of the most dynamic football players in program history. As a senior, his leadership and athleticism propelled the team to new heights. Serving as captain, he was named Team MVP and Best Offensive Back. Phillip set the single-season rushing record with 1,758 yards and the single-game rushing record with 290 yards.
His outstanding performance earned him recognition across the state: All-State First Team, All-County, AJC Top 50, Super 11 Second Team, and DeKalb County Offensive Player of the Year. He was also selected to play in the prestigious North-South All-Star Game. Off the field, Phillip’s peers recognized him as Most Athletic in the Class of ’95—and he was even crowned Homecoming King.
Phillip received a full ride to play football at Georgia Tech, where he was a four-year letterman and ranked among the Top 20 all-time rushers in program history. A key contributor on the 1998 ACC Championship team, he led the Yellow Jackets in carries and finished as the second-leading rusher that season. Over his collegiate career, Phillip totaled 324 carries for 1,264 rushing yards, added 19 receptions for 211 yards, and scored 17 touchdowns. After his college career, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by signing with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 2000. The highlight of his career was being locker mates with Emmet Smith.
Phillip earned his B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech and later his MBA from Fordham University. He began his career in finance in New York, then moved into investment banking. He was a founding member of Atlantic Capital Bank, serving as Head of Capital Markets, before transitioning to real estate private equity with Coro Realty Advisors, where he currently serves as Vice President.
Beyond his professional success, Phillip remains deeply committed to giving back. He served on the boards of the College Park Boys & Girls Club and Kindezi (KIN – Dez- e) Schools, and continues to inspire young athletes as a coach.
Congratulations to Phillip on his induction into the St. Pius X Athletic Hall of Fame.
