Track & Field Have Personal Record Frenzie at Districts!

MESSAGE FROM COACH LEE

Another huge day for Sedro-Woolley Cubs with state qualifiers, breakthrough performances, and personal bests all over the track and field areas.

Team Finishes

The Cubs finished:

  • 4th in the boys team standings with 63 points
  • Tied for 6th in the girls standings with 50 points

Against one of the deepest leagues around, Sedro-Woolley showed serious balance across sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps, throws, and distance events.


Boys Highlights

  • Kolyn Rochester dropped an 11.36 PB in the 100 and later helped the boys 4x100 relay qualify for state.
  • The boys 4x100 team of Isaiah Harris, Ethan DeJong, Briley Eastwood, and Kolyn Rochester punched their state ticket in 43.57.
  • The boys 4x400 relay team of Riley Adams, Ethan DeJong, Atlas Farnsworth, and Briley Eastwood also qualified with a strong 3:27.86.

Ethan DeJong’s Huge Day

Ethan was one of the stars of the meet:

  • 2nd in the 110 hurdles with a 14.67 PB
  • 2nd in the 300 hurdles with another PB of 39.98
  • Qualified as part of both relay teams

More Boys Standouts

  • Atlas Farnsworth ran 53.77 in the 400 before helping the 4x400 qualify.
  • Riley Adams ran a huge 2:01.67 PB in the 800.
  • Leif Spitler added strong distance finishes in both the 800 and 1600.
  • Sam Duley scored in the 3200.
  • Tycen Bock hit a shot put PB of 45’11”.
  • Denver Hainstock qualified for state in javelin with a massive 163’6” PB.
  • Jordan Janicki added a javelin PB of 158’3” and qualified in pole vault at 13’6”.
  • Samuel Schulberg cleared 6’3” in high jump to qualify for state.
  • Nathan Knott scored in both the 200 and high jump.
  • Freshman Malakai Dorsey had a breakout performance, qualifying in long jump with a huge 21’0.75” PB.
  • Chase Chambers contributed in both horizontal jumps, including a season-best long jump mark.

Girls Highlights

Lyla Self Takes Over

  • Lyla Self had an incredible meet:
    • Won the 100 in a 12.19 PB
    • Qualified in the 200 with another PB of 25.42
    • Qualified in the 400 at 59.40
    • Anchored the girls 4x100 relay to state
  • The girls 4x100 relay team of Kayla Camp, Kayla Oram, Joslyn Chace, and Lyla Self qualified in 49.55.

More Girls Standouts

  • Kayla Camp hit a huge long jump PB of 16’10.25”.
  • Joslyn Chace ran a 16.39 PB in the 100 hurdles.
  • Evie Thompson ran a hurdles PB of 17.16 and later threw 103’11” in javelin.
  • Kyndall Elliott placed 6th in javelin with 104’10”.
  • Reece Thompson scored in both high jump and triple jump, including a triple jump PB.
  • Mallory Malone added a season best in the 400.
  • The girls 4x400 team battled hard to finish out the meet.

Unified Highlights

  • The unified SMR team of Brody Smith, Alyssa De Leso, Caylee Ward, and Jack Leach qualified for state.
  • Unified athletes continued stacking PRs and strong performances throughout the meet.

Day 2 was packed with personal bests, clutch performances, and state qualifications as the Cubs proved they can compete with anyone in the conference.
