Sedro-Woolley concluded the 2026 3A State Track & Field Championships with several strong performances and nine team points on the boys side. Senior Ethan DeJong led the way, earning two state medals. After a tough break in the preliminary round of the 110-meter hurdles, DeJong bounced back in the finals to place fourth in 14.89 seconds. He also finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.57, adding six points for the Cubs.
Senior Denver Hainstock added another podium finish by placing sixth in the javelin with a throw of 170 feet, 2 inches. The Cubs also saw strong performances from underclassmen, including sophomore Nathan Knott, who tied for ninth in the high jump at 6 feet, and freshman Malakai Dorsey, who placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 10¼ inches. Senior Jordan Janicki finished tied for 11th in the pole vault.
On the girls side, senior Lyla Self narrowly missed qualifying for the 100-meter final, placing ninth in the preliminaries in 12.23 seconds. Self also competed in the 200 and 400 meters, while the Cubs’ girls 4x100-meter relay team earned a trip to the state meet and finished 17th overall.
