Sedro-Woolley Fastpitch added another chapter to its historic 2026 season as senior pitcher Kasandra Gonzalez and junior shortstop Reagan Evans were selected to VarsityWA's Class 3A All-State Team. Gonzalez earned the highest honor in the classification, being named the 3A Player of the Year, while Evans was recognized as one of the state's top middle infielders. Their selections further cement two of the most decorated careers in program history and come after leading the Cubs to a 28-3 record and a runner-up finish at the WIAA State Championships. Throughout the season, both players consistently delivered in the biggest moments, helping establish Sedro-Woolley as one of Washington's premier softball programs.
Kasandra Gonzalez – 3A Player of the Year
Few players have impacted a program the way Kasandra Gonzalez has impacted Sedro-Woolley Fastpitch. The senior ace concluded her remarkable career by earning VarsityWA's Class 3A Player of the Year award after leading the Cubs to the state championship game and putting together one of the most dominant seasons in Washington. During conference play, Gonzalez went undefeated at 7-0, allowing just two hits, one walk, and one earned run while striking out 76 of the 93 batters she faced. She finished the season 16-2 with a 0.64 ERA and 218 strikeouts in 98⅓ innings while also contributing heavily at the plate with a .558 batting average, seven doubles, five home runs, and 32 RBI.
Gonzalez was at her best during the postseason. She opened the playoffs by helping shut out Shorewood and Inglemoor, then extended a remarkable no-hit streak through the state semifinals as Sedro-Woolley defeated Roosevelt to advance to the championship game. She also delivered offensively throughout the tournament, including a home run in the state title game. Her career concludes as the program's all-time leader in wins (51) and strikeouts (721), while her leadership, competitiveness, and consistency helped elevate the Cubs into one of the state's elite programs. Gonzalez will continue her softball career at Cal State Fullerton.
Reagan Evans – All-State Middle Infielder
For the second consecutive season, Reagan Evans proved to be one of the most dangerous all-around players in Washington. The junior shortstop earned VarsityWA All-State recognition after anchoring the Cubs defensively while serving as one of the driving forces behind Sedro-Woolley's explosive offense. Evans consistently produced in pressure situations throughout the year, including several game-changing performances during conference play and the postseason.
At the plate, Evans posted outstanding numbers, finishing conference play with a .579 batting average and a .646 on-base percentage while recording seven doubles, one triple, six home runs, 32 RBI, and 33 runs scored. Her overall season statistics were equally impressive, including a .473 batting average, nine doubles, nine home runs, a team-leading 37 RBI, 37 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. Evans repeatedly delivered in key moments, helping the Cubs secure critical victories throughout their run to the state championship game. During the state tournament, she continued to shine offensively, collecting extra-base hits and launching a home run in the semifinal victory over Roosevelt.
Whether making difficult plays at shortstop or providing timely offense in the middle of the lineup, Evans consistently influenced games on both sides of the ball. With another year remaining in her career, she has already established herself among the top players to ever wear a Sedro-Woolley uniform and will enter next season as one of the premier players in Class 3A softball.
