MESSAGE FROM COACH SCHAFFNER
Sedro-Woolley fell to Burlington 2-5 at their home match on Friday afternoon. The match was much closer than the scoreline would imply. Sedro-Woolley picked wins from Wyatt Melton (So) who moved up to #2 singles and defeated Burlington’s Owen Rhea 7-5, 6-4 through smart and aggressive play. The other win came from the #2 doubles pair of Jaxson Bond (Sr) and Logan Boal (Jr). They played extremely well in the first set winning 6-4, but dropped the second set 6-1 after Burlington made some impressive tactical changes. However, the Sedro-Woolley pair settled down, made some changes of their own and left it all out on the court to win the third set in decisive fashion with a score of 6-0. I was extremely impressed with their resilience and positive mental game throughout the match.

Despite losing at #1 singles, senior Declan Harp played well and is improving with every match. At #3 singles senior Colton Knutson lost an extremely close and hard fought match in two set tiebreaks, 6-7, 6-7 (4-7 and 5-7 respectively). Overall I am extremely happy with how the team played. A couple of points here and there and the match score would have been 4-3 in Sedro-Woolley’s favor. I’m looking forward to our next meeting with Burlington.
