Ms. Phyllis Waller’s leadership, dedication, professionalism, and sense of community will leave an unparalleled legacy for Hiller Nation. She is a tireless advocate for civil rights and social justice and has devoted much of her adult life to ensuring equal opportunities for all people. Phyllis is also a staunch supporter of education, voting rights, and health care for underserved populations.
As a Hiller, Waller graduated in 1974 and was a member of the band, a majorette, and a participant in Creative Arts and May Day. Upon graduation, Phyllis earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Robert Morris University, majoring in Business Teachers Education. She has held positions at Mellon Bank, Penn Commercial, Interstate Contractors Supply Co, and the Waller Corporation.
Waller has contributed greatly to her community. She was a Washington School District School Board Director and a leader of community organizations including President of the Washington NAACP, President of the League of Women Voters, Chairman of the Abernathy Black Community Development Education Fund (ABCDEF), member of the Pennsylvania State Conference of NAACP Branches Executive Committee and a member of the IOTA club.
