Dr. Ann Jeffers, an accomplished professional in the field of civil engineering, has forged an exemplary academic and professional path marked by outstanding achievements. Graduating from Trinity High School in 2000, Dr. Jeffers embarked on her academic journey, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh with Summa Cum Laude honors. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Virginia Tech, where she earned both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in civil engineering.
Dr. Jeffers is dedicated to raising awareness for mental health, disabilities, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has become a luminary in her field. Since 2009, she has served as a distinguished professor at the University of Michigan. Her abilities were recognized when she was honored as the Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor of the Year. In addition to teaching, Dr. Jeffers actively engages in service, outreach, and mentoring initiatives that focus on advancing the representation of women and minorities in engineering.
Dr. Jeffers’ influence extends beyond the classroom, evident in her role as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Fire Safety Journal and The Mad Engineer Blog, providing readers with valuable perspectives on engineering and beyond.
