Raymond Dunlevy

Mr. Raymond Dunlevy, a 1961 Trinity High School graduate and varsity wrestler, transitioned from coaching wrestling to pursuing his true passion: art. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He continued his post graduate studies at prestigious institutions, such as the Art Students League of New York, Ohio State University, the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Carnegie Mellon, and California University of Pennsylvania. Initially an illustrator and studio owner, he crafted logos for regional businesses. Hired by Beaver County Community College, he shaped the art curriculum by becoming an assistant professor. He later served as program chair at California University of Pennsylvania until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Dunlevy continued teaching, established a Washington art co-op, and earned the WQED’s VITA award in 1999.

Mr. Dunlevy has left a lasting impact on Washington’s art community and young artists. His passing in February, 2022 marked the end of a prolific career, but his influence endures, forever ingrained in Washington’s history.
